RICK AND LIZ TUDOR ON INDIGENOUS AUSTRALIA: The Principal of
Trinity Grammar School, Rick Tudor, and his wife Liz, will be speaking over
breakfast after the 8.00am Service on Sunday 7 September. Rick and Liz have
been travelling to Central Australia for many years, working with various
communities, and their understanding of indigenous Australia is unique. Please confirm your attendance with Sally Wallis on 9571-8328.

DR. BRUCE KAYE ON LAMBETH: The Rev.d Dr. Bruce Kaye will speak on ‘After Lambeth: where to now?’ at a meeting of Melbourne Anglicans Together, 2.15pm, Sunday 14 September, at St George’s, Glenferrie Rd., Malvern.  Dr Kaye, formerly General Synod General Secretary, has recently published on world Anglicanism and also how the Anglican Communion deals with conflict. This is a great opportunity for Melbourne Anglicans to hear from an expert inAnglican Communion issues at this critical time.

125TH ANNIVERSARY EUCHARIST & DINNER: An important date for your diaries! Saint John’s celebrates its 125th Anniversary this NOVEMBER 30.  Abp. Philip Frier will Preside at a Festival Eucharist on that day. There will be ONLY ONE SERVICE that day, at 9.30am.  A Celebration Dinner will be heldthe evening before, 29 November.  Set aside the dates and invite your friends!

WORK FOR MONASH STUDENTS: Many of the students coming to Saint
John’s Globe Café are urgently looking for full and part-time work. A number of students have recently graduated from post-graduate courses in areas like
Accounting, Finance, Marketing, and Business, which many who are still
studying need part-time work to survive. Students are keen help with cleaning, child care, tutoring in foreign languages, etc.. Most are post-graduate students and generally the cream of the crop in their home countries. Speak to Fr. John for contact details and references.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS PROGRAM: Each Friday between 5.00pm – 7.30pm, St. John’s runs a hospitality program – Globe Café – for international students from Monash Uni. Students are eager to meet Australian families, learn about our culture, and speak English with others. ST. JACK’S PLACE - PARISH OUTREACH GROUP: The Parish outreach programme provides lunch to the needy and lonely in our local community EACH FRIDAY, 11.30-1.00pm. ALL ARE WELCOME. To volunteer on a roster basis, call Sally on 9571-8328.

BUBUP PLAYGROUP: St. John’s weekly Playgroup meets each Thursday 10.00am-12.00pm in the Parish Hall. For more info call Deb on 0409-803-997.

INC YOUTH GROUP: St. John’s Youth Group meets Sundays 3-5 pm in the church Hall. ALL WELCOME. Relaxed fun for high school ages. For info contact Michael Phillips on 0435 170 900.

ENTERTAINMENT BOOK: You can now purchase the 2008/09 Entertainment Book here at St John’s.  Get great discounts on meals, travel and entertainment, whilst raising funds for the Parish.  Order forms are available from the back of the church, or for more information call Bron Williams on 9572-4469.

WANTED – COOKS for the Casserole Bank: The Casserole Bank needs replenishing and volunteers are urgently needed to cook casseroles. Containers, recipes if needed, and reimbursement towards the costs are provided. Talk to Margaret Garing ph 9572 1962.

A CALL FOR PARISH GARDENERS: St. John’s is fortunate in having beautiful surroundings. The gardens have developed greatly in recent years following new plantings and considerable hard work and dedication. New gardeners are now needed, however, to continue this work and maintain and develop what we have. Volunteers are sought to maintain individual areas around the Church, and at least initially will receive support and guidance. Call Alex Wood on 9885- 4467 for further information.

ST MARK’S COMMUNITY CENTRE:  St. Mark’s needs more food. Popular items are: Weetbix, 2mt noodles, 500gm dried pasta, 400gm tinned vegetables, 825 & 425gm tinned fruit, condensed soup, 420gm baked beans and tinned spaghetti, 185gm & 425gm tinned fish, tea bags 420 gm tinned meat.
