St John's MissionSt John's East Malvern is a parish church. Our vision at St John's is to be a Christian community, warm-hearted and friendly, looking outward to our neighbourhood and world. We aim to grow in our spiritual understanding and to involve others in this venture. St John's is a spiritual home to many, in our local area and from wider afield. Worship is at the heart of our life: reverent, attentive, beautifully crafted, new and traditional, prayers and music resting in a rich heritage, enhanced by hymnody and a pipe organ. We find being in church is spiritually sustaining. Services at St John's speak to our deepest needs and connect to the issues of our daily lives. Pastoral care is very important to us, especially in times of illness, difficulty and bereavement. Our pastoral ministries include baptisms, weddings, funerals and counselling, as well as referrals. Lay people take an active part in making pastoral visits and in practical assistance. We are very committed to children and the elderly. We are encouraged at St John's, especially by the quality of the preaching, to be thoughtful and reflective, to be learning and growing in our understanding of Christian faith, the meaning of the Scriptures and the relevance of the Gospel message. We take seriously Christian teaching for the young. We stand in a mainstream liberal Anglican tradition, drawing upon the age-old Catholic heritage of worship, but a contemporary understanding and theology. We value diversity and care about issues of social justice. We bring to our everyday cares and responsibilities a mind that is shaped by our Christian belonging, and the ready support of our vicar and friends at St John's. Designed by: Heathmont
