Monash International Students

WORK FOR MONASH STUDENTS

Many of the students coming to Saint John’s Globe Café are urgently looking for full and part-time work. A number of students have recently graduated from post-graduate courses in areas like Accounting, Finance, Marketing, and Business, which many who are still studying need part-time work to survive. Students are keen help with cleaning, child care, tutoring in foreign languages, etc.. Most are post-graduate students and generally the cream of the crop in their home countries. Speak to Fr. John for contact details and references.

Following on our successful dinner for international students from Monash Uni, volunteers are needed to help with ongoing activities. If you are prepared to offer hospitality in your homes or the Parish Hall on Friday evenings, including helping to prepare or cook a meal, please call Rosemary Wickett on 0417-532-118.

St. Jack's Place - Parish Outreach Group:

The Parish outreach programme provides lunch to the needy and lonely in our local community each Friday, 11.30-1.00pm. All are welcome.  To volunteer on a roster basis, call Sally on 9571-8328.

Pastoral Care

The Pastoral Care group aim at identifying people in our Parish who need a little extra attention, whether it be in the form of a lift to church, a visit, a phone call, our prayers or some food. Records are kept of those who need watching, and others outside the committee help us to remain in touch with people who need our attention.

The monthly Wednesday Eucharist and lunch for those who find it hard to get to Church early on Sunday mornings has become very much part of the outreach of this group. Food is prepared and handed out, and people are collected and taken home.

The casserole bank provides food for those in immediate need. We are always looking for volunteers to prepare casseroles and soup for the bank. Can you help us?

The Vicar maintains detailed records of everyone, and their anniversaries, whether they are celebratory, or sad ones. This enhances the group’s ability to provide care for our regular congregation, or people who have some small connection to St. John’s.
