"Our role is outreach – friendship in action … in a group that can offer emotional and spiritual support, and opportunity for growth through caring and personal relationships".

An introduction to Caritas

Caritas is a friendship group associated with St John’s Anglican Church, East Malvern, for all ages (male and female). It meets mainly on the first Monday of the month (excluding school holidays) at 8pm to listen to a guest speaker and get together with friends for supper. A program of the year’s meetings is produced and mailed to members.

The Caritas annual ‘Springfever’ dinner is held during September/October in place of the October and November meetings to provide members with an occasion to mingle and meet new friends and partners.

Financial membership of the group ($15 per annum) is voluntary but encouraged. All this subscription is paid to the Mother’s Union to help finance the M.U. office, publications and outreach projects.

Everyone is welcome to attend our meetings – please consider joining – and bring along a friend.

Our purpose
  1. To be specially concerned with all that strengthens, preserves
  2. and creates Christian home and family life.
  3. To provide in the Parish an entry/contact point to those who are outside the influence of the Church.

There shall be no qualifications for membership.
Caritas groups are adaptable to the local needs.

The importance of being Caritas

What makes Caritas unique?

  1. We are Australian made.
  2. We are a valuable part of a worldwide organisation – the Mother’s Union.
  3. We all have the same aim.
  4. We are free of restrictions on membership and encouraged to be flexible.
  5. We are a group of multi-cultural, talented and faceted women and some men who join together to really make a difference in the lives of others.
  6. We have a very efficient and workable network that offers information, education and support to all members and their communities.
  7. We are very much in tune with social issues and endeavour to add the Christian women’s viewpoint to major discussions and policy issues.
  8. We are dedicated to reach out to others and share the love so freely given to us by God.

WHY DON’T YOU BELONG ???
